Marzipan Mansion is a classical symmetrical affair. Confection is considered perfection at Royal Doll Town, so the interiors have been treated like some delectably rich gâteau and embellished with ornate mouldings akin to artful frosting and icing. Walls, doors, ceilings, entablatures and architraves all receive this predominantly pink and white architectural aesthetic. The stately home cantilevers over and above Libertine's canopy bed which also serves as Libertine's nursery for germinating seeds. The seedling nursery was reconfigured and arranged as a formal landscaped front garden for the mansion with germination houses resembling green-houses accommodating stacked seedling beds. Besides the seedling nursery, the mansion has a sweet children's nursery with a wonderfully stocked library of dolls' house books. “The Lorax” by Dr Seuss is Prince Camembert and Jilly Bean's favourite book. So, when the grounds of Marzipan Mansion were being constructed they begged and begged their mothers for some Grickle-grass and Truffula Tree seeds. Queen Marcheline and Jellatine, most anxious not to deprive their babes of wonderful memories of their everlasting childhood, couldn’t bear to tell them there was no such thing, so they were forced to fall back on their instinctive maternal wiles and make up a big whopping lie. Lying is strictly forbidden at court and February, as you'll learn, is the official month of confession enabling any accidental liars to come clean, but in this instance the Queen sought exemption and granted it to herself and Jellatine and everyone else at court as they were all collaterally in on the deal.
Queen Marcheline instructed the Royal Animal Relations League; Ermine Larkspur, Leonine Catspurr, Ottobert Foxfur and Lambert Lemur to round up donations of winter wool from the moulting sheep of the countryside and have it transported secretly back to the tower by the Flying Pigtails. She then commissioned the Royal Fruit Fur Works; Plantaine and Plumbert to manufacture some beautiful “Grickle-grass” which was in actual fact shaggy wool pile Flokati style rugs dyed lush green. Next numerous fluffy “Truffula Trees” were fashioned from feathery pink chrysanthemum petals attached and perched on rock candy striped willowy trunks. These were then surreptitiously "planted" and erected as a formal topiary feature surrounding Marzipan Mansion. When the artificial botanic surprise was finally revealed to the two little tots, they were speechless and wide eyed, carefully surveying each and every installation. Queen Marcheline and Jellatine were radiant with the joys of being such doting mums, exchanging smug little winks, when their children suddenly squealed in unison: “But we wanted to germinate them from seed!” Sometimes it’s just too darn difficult for mums to get it absolutely right! “We’ll just have to wait till they grow seeds then we can harvest them!” Said Prince Camembert excitedly and Jilly Bean bounced up and down squealing delightedly. The speechless mums exchanged horrified helpless looks.
